GEICO Leads Stanley Cup Playoff TV Ad Reach

The Florida Panthers may be the most-seen NHL team during this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs, simply by the number of games they've played. But which brands are leveraging playoff matchups for the most TV ad reach this spring? Data from iSpot shows that GEICO is leading the way, at least through the conference finals.
- GEICO accounts for 3.30% of all household TV ad impressions delivered during live airings of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, followed by Capital One Credit Card (3.07%) and Honda (2.74%).
- Unsurprisingly, those three brands are all major sponsors of the NHL – regular season and postseason – and have been for some time. Honda, which also has the naming rights for the Anaheim Ducks' arena, even renewed its NHL partnership earlier this year.
- Interesting among the top advertisers were which ones put an emphasis on hockey-specific ads during games: Most-seen ads for some of the most-seen brands like GEICO, Discover and Enterprise were very hockey-specific, but most did not lean on hockey images or celebrities.
